Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I access Mofon sites and other internet web sites on my wireless phone?

A. First of all, you don't need an Internet-enabled phone to have a Mofon site, but most mobile phones either have Internet access now or will have Internet access in the near future. If you do have an Internet-ready phone, you will need to have a plan with your wireless phone company that includes Internet access in order to view web sites. If your phone has Internet capability but you don't have a plan that includes Internet access, you can usually add it to your existing plan for a few dollars a month.

Once your phone is Internet ready, the method for connecting to the Internet varies by phone model. You can usually access the Internet by pressing the Internet button, or by selecting the Internet or web icon on your phone. You may need to consult your wireless provider for instructions specific to your phone model. Once connected to the Internet, look for a link that says "Bookmarks" or "Search" or "Go to" or something similar. That should take you to a screen where you can enter a web address such as http://mysite.mofon.mobi.

If you don't have access to an Internet-enabled mobile phone or device, you can still have a Mofon site and view it on an emulator such as the one found here.

Q. I already have a web site. Why do I need a Mofon site?

Web sites designed for large computer screens generally don't look all that great on a small mobile phone screen. They are often difficult to navigate and don't come across very well. Your Mofon site is aimed at a different audience than your regular web site - your Mofon site is for 1) people on the go, and 2) devices with small screens. Therefore your Mofon site should be simple and to the point, and the content should be written with the end user in mind - i.e., not someone sitting in front of a computer screen, but instead someone on the go with a small screen, who is looking for specific information quickly.

In addition, your Mofon site can serve many purposes that a regular web site can't. Anywhere that people need information "in the field" or "on the go" is a good reason for a Mofon site - i.e., onsite shift schedules, real estate listings, restaurant menus and specials, hours and directions, or personal shopping lists.
